Pelmets and Valances

Flat, box style pelmets are enjoying a resurgence! These were very popular 30 years ago but going back then they tended to be more fussy, shaped styles with tassels along the bottom. Nowadays the flat pelmets tend to be, often, straight thus just adding that bit more interest to the window but at the same time hiding the track, top of the window recess and possibly the top of the window frame.  

Pelmets without curtains! This has also become more popular with customers wanting to bring some colour or soften the harsh lines of the top of the window. A contrasting, or matching blind could be fitted inside the recess. 

Soft, pleated or gathered valances still have their place. Often traditional cottages are suited to this look.
